Islam and Science: Is There a Conflict?

Event details

  • 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Musallah

Muslim students in universities often find themselves presented with a picture that pits science and belief in God as incompatible. This workshop will teach students the fundamentals of Islamic Epistemology (theory of knowledge) by which we assess any claim to objective truth. It will then go on to apply these theories to modern science and see if there is any conflict. It will be demonstrated to students that the conflict does not lie between Islam and science but rather the materialistic naturalism that science today is rooted in. The workshop will conclude with a critical examination of the naturalist philosophy. Special attention will be given to the Islamic perspective on the theory of evolution.

Speaker is Mawlana Atiq, please see his bio on the flyer above
